With this year coming to a close it is a good time to look back on what all we have accomplished in this, by far the busiest, most action packed and productive year in the short history of the Pilvi Cloud Company. We’ve launched our company, along with the fastest way for you to start selling cloud, we’ve traveled the world, continued development and even closed a few deals.
Products and Development
Our key product the Pilvi Cloud Shop™, the fastest way to start cloud selling, saw several improvements this year and is now even easier to setup and get up and running quickly. The product enables any of our partners to rapidly begin selling global cloud services alongside their own existing products through their very own true webshop. The shop scales with the partner’s business and the technology’s security was succesfully audited in 2014.
Pilvi Catalog™ has vastly expanded to include a comprehensive list of all major global cloud services, virtualization platforms, several payment providers as well as additional key value added products. Which include core products by:
Amazon Web Services
2015 figures to be an even busier year, as Pilvi has a number of new integrations in the pipeline as we continue to add new kinds of products and services to the Catalog.
Pilvi Console™, the end users’ service management module that’s available with Pilvi Cloud Shop, now includes unique automated functionality for selected cloud services, e.g. scheduled instance lifecycle management for Amazon EC2.
Pilvi also announced the launch of a brand new service, Pilvi Connection, in cooperation with Somella Oy, which works to connect cloud professionals with users that need help in the cloud. Through Pilvi Connection, cloud users can simply fill out a request for offering, detailing what they need help with, and will be rapidly connected with an expert that can help them begin to get the most out of the cloud.
Sales and Projects
After a year containing over 300 client meetings of which 70% were virtual meetings, and adding 2 new members to the sales team. Pilvi closed our first deal with the Finnish hosting company Louhi Networks. Pilvi and Louhi signed a 5 year contract together and as part of the deal Pilvi rapidly delivered Louhi a brand new state-of-the-art webshop, through which Louhi is now able to offer their clients a vast array of global cloud services along with their previously existing product portfolio, all the while maintaining the local support they’ve always provided customers.
Pilvi was able to then seal numerous deals by the end of the year which are all underway and in delivery. Added to the ongoing negotiations with potential future partners Pilvi has truly hit the ground running and next year promises to be busier than ever for the sales department.
We at Pilvi also began sales and pre-sales operations outside of Finland in the Nordic region, establishing contacts and setting up meetings with numerous Hosting and cloud related companies in the country.
Promotion, Marketing and Networking
We launched Pilvi on April 1st 2014 at the World Hosting Days in Germany, a three day hosting event. During the event we met with companies such as Softlayer, AEserver, NEOS Ventures, Nyherji, Cloudmakelaar, UpCloud, Enter Cloud Suite, and many many others. All of whom we hope to either establish or further our partnerships with.
Pilvi took part in Startup Sauna, which is a business accelerator program targeting promising new growth companies. The program is supported by Aalto University and other stakeholders such as the Federation of the Finnish Tech industry among others. After a grueling few weeks in the accelerator Pilvi was announced one of the most promising startups in Europe. Thanks to the program Pilvi was able to key in on pitch presentation and to better define what to offer to whom.
Pilvi began internationalization operations through being awarded a trip to Silicon Valley where we met with and pitched to potential investors, discussed opportunities with potential business partners and familiarized ourselves with the North American market. We furthered these operations by visiting the initial HostingCon Europe and traveling to the UK to attend the TechCrunch DISRUPT UK event. During both we familiarized ourselves with great potential partners in Europe and sat in on numerous intriguing panels and discussions on the present and future of the hosting industry.
All the while not forgetting our own local market we again attended the Slush 2014 event which again provided us with an opportunity to present and connect with some of the most interesting promising startups in business today, both local and international.
In Closing, we are looking forward to 2015 when we will continue to provide you with the best tools and information in getting the most out of the cloud and growing your business.
To all those we already know and have met during the previous years, lets reconnect and keep in touch in the coming year. And to those we have not yet met, get in touch with us, lets get to know each other and begin working together!
